Project was  started in the fall of 2007 to help the students of St Etienne School with tuition costs, to make repairs to the building, to promote attendance and improve teaching and learning conditions.  That fall we stayed for three months in the village of Bakwa Ndoba Bena Kabamba, in the District of Tshilenge in the Province of Kasai, and were able to accomplish this with the help of The Grace Presbyterian Church Congregation, Lafayette, Louisiana Community, and friends and family. These were the projects we completed at that time:

  1. School repairs: roof, floor, walls, blackboard and foundation reinforcement.
  2. School furnishing:  Students ‘desks, teachers’ chairs and tables, principal’s office cabinets, desks, chairs, and computers
  3. Students’ school supplies, dictionaries, books, teachers’ manuals, and tuition.
  4.  Two-days in-service on multiple teaching strategies and learning styles, and how to introduce hands-on activities in science class.
  5.  Extracurricular projects: Playground and soccer field construction to help keep children out of the diamond mines.
  6.   Two water sources constructed with the help of our fellow member Ewing Brown: Ewing 1 located at 100 meters from St Etienne School, and Ewing 2 at 1000 meters.

These sources give clean drinking water to 30 surrounding villages and help reduce water related diseases.

OUR MISSION
COCF is committed to provide shelter and education to vulnerable children , and to empower Congolese rural women through hands-on adult education in the kasai Region..

Laissez les petits enfants venir à moi...Mathew 19-14. {Let the little children come to me..."
We have a simple mission to which Jesus said it best. "Let the little children come to me." Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing and loving environment for the children living at the Bishadi Children’s Home located in the village of Nyemvue Kasai Oriental in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Emphasis being placed on moral, character, education and citizenship.

We also want to provide education to the children and the women of Nyemvue through hands on training; so that they may learn new trades and make the  home an integral part of the community.

OUR BELIEFS

Education matters so lets us invest in it.
